Despite the long-predicted snow coming down last night, Greenwich still managed to put on a party to celebrate the borough’s new royal status. There was a lantern parade through the Old Royal Naval College and then some fantastic fireworks from a barge in the Thames.

The Royal Borough celebrations moved to Eltham today, with the Royal Charter on show and the planting of a black Poplar tree at Well Hall Pleasaunce. A large crowd later gathered in freezing conditions at the Tudor Barn to enjoy live music and a fireworks display.
